Evaluation

1) Who did you work with and how did you manage the task between you?

For my prelim task I was put in a group of three and I was put with Sophie and Antonio. We decided that we were going to share the work between us to make it fair. We all did a bit of everything but we all had something that we preferred doing and so sometimes we did more of one thing than anything else. I prefer to film and to be behind the camera instead. Sophie and Antonio did the acting while I filmed. Antonio also did some filming for the shop shot where no actors were needed. Sophie seemed to be really good at editing and so she did the majority while we gave feedback. We all did our own bits to help create the final product and I think we shared out the tasks well and gave people the tasks they could do the best in and felt most comfortable with.

2) How did you plan your sequence? What processes did you use?

In order to make sure we got all the tasks done and to make sure the shots we were getting were matching we had to be prepared and be ready to film. To make this happen we made a storyboard which showed where and what timings the shot need to be and how long for. This made it easier to know exactly what we had to do and saved us time and gave us more time to film and edit as we had already planned what we had to do. We also made a shooting schedule so we all knew when we would be filming and also a props and location list so we knew where we needed to be and what we would need for that exact shot. All of this planning allowed us to stay on track and not rush anything as we knew exactly what we had to do we made it very easy to get the shots just how we wanted them without rushing or at confusion.

3) What theories could you apply to the video you chose?

4) What technology did you use to complete the task, and how did you use it?

For our prelim task we used computers and an iPhone instead of the school cameras as we felt that the iPhone could produce a better quality video. We then used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the footage for the shots we got. We all have had a lot of experience using every bit of technology we used to create the music video. The computers were used to research the video and also to produce prop lists and shooting schedules and other things that would be needed to help as with filming. We used Adobe Premiere Pro as we all knew how to use it and its really good for editing. We used a black and white filter on our footage as the original video was also in black and white.

5) What factors did you have to take into account when planning, shooting and editing?

For planning we had to make sure that we were all going to be free when we needed to film and so we made a shooing schedule based around when we all be free so we could all be present for filming. The song that goes with our music video is inappropriate for people of a certain age. As we were using the song to help us film we had to make sure that we were careful with who could hear the music as younger children In the school shouldn't be hearing the language mentioned in the song. For editing we all had to make sure that we were happy with the result so we made sure of this by helping out and giving advice to each other.

 6) How successful was your music video copy? Please identify what worked well, and with hindsight, what would you improve/do differently? What did others say about your production?
The video we were copying was 212 by Azaelia Banks and I think that overall we did a really good job in making a successful copy of the video. I think we could've challenged ourselves a bit more by picking a more challenging video but I think we did really well for what we picked. I think as a group we worked really well and we planed out what needed to e done and this saved us time and also made it easier for everyone to understand. Feedback we got was generally positive and only had minor problems but overall we were told that the video was a good copy of the original and so I think we did really well.

7) What have you learnt from completing this task? Looking ahead, how will this learning be significant when completing your music video, do you think?

I think this has made me realise that I need to challenge myself more and look into more creative videos. I also have gained more experience on filming and also on how to prepare for the filming. I think that when we film and come up with ideas for our own music video I will think more about how to make it different and more exciting to make it stand out and to really use lots of camera angles and different editing tools.

8) How does it compare with filming an opening to a film?

I have learnt that the two are very different as the music video is more about being creative and more about editing and the film opening was more of a story to tell and was more straight forward. A music video can contain anything whereas a film opening is more to the point and explain but the music video doesn't need explaining.

9) What are your strengths and weaknesses as a group member?
I think that my strength would be that I do have good ideas and I do like to be very creative and to have my say in what goes on and I do encourage other peoples views to make sure I can think of the best idea to bring forward. I like to be different and I like to direct people when filming. I think a weakness of mine would be that I stress a lot when something doesn't go right.

 10) Looking at the other group's videos which do you think were most successful and why?
